When there is a newborn green stool associated with gas and colic, then it may be due to something that is causing an imbalance in his digestive system.
It has been observed that when there is an imbalance in the supply of foremilk and hind milk.
Thus when the baby is ingesting more of the low fat foremilk, then this may be causing the newborn green stool.
It is advisable to express some of the breast milk before feeding the baby. This is very common in the case of mothers who are producing excessive breast milk.
The baby may not be able to adjust to the excessive milk and this maybe causing the newborn green stool, gas and colic.
But gradually as the baby learns to adjust and learns to turn away when full then the newborn green stool will stop on its own.
It is normal for newborn babies to produce the dark and sticky meconium in the first few bowel movements, but later on this will be transformed to brown or tan color and sometimes newborn green stool.
Thus the color of the stools may keep changing as the baby is growing and developing and there are changes in diet.
