Breast feeding growth spurts may occur around seven to ten days after birth, and again between three to six weeks. According to statistics, it has been found that the breastfeeding growth spurts result in normal increase of weight. It has been estimated that the weight increases at a rate of two third ounces per day and by the time the baby is one month old, he weighs 9 pounds.

The baby also grows by one to one and a half inches during this month. The breastfeeding growth spurts are recorded by the pediatrician. It has been found that baby boys weigh more than baby girls. The difference in their weight is less than one pound. Also, baby boys tend to be slightly taller than baby girls. The difference has been found to be about half an inch.

Breastfeeding mothers find it very exhausting while dealing the demands of the growing baby. Babies may also get up for extra feedings during the night. Breastfeeding growth spurts are also advantageous for the baby, as he will be able to get the nutritious hind milk. The breast milk production is also enhanced as the mother is feeding more often.

One way to deal with the stress of catering to the demands of the breastfeeding baby is to sleep with the baby and adjust your routine around the naptime and get enough rest and nutrition. Many mothers also introduce an extra bottle of formula in place of the night feeding in order to ensure that the baby is full and does not get up in the night for any extra feeding.

Breast feeding on demand is an instinct; every new mother follows in an endeavor to pacify their baby. As long as this act ensures fulfillment of the nutritional needs of the baby and the mother does not become a mere human pacifier, breast feeding on demand is highly recommended by pediatricians and child psychologists all over the world. Scientifically speaking, breast milk is pre-metabolized in the mother’s body thus is quickly digested due to which the baby’s stomach is usually hungry within an hour or so. Highly sensitive babies are quick to panic from hunger cramps and demand breast milk.

Denying nursing at this time may cause the baby to be insecure about future feedings as well thereby breast feeding on demand is encouraged in order to ensure, not only nutrition but also emotional security. A content and secure baby tends to sleep better for longer duration. However, there is an exception for colicky babies who are usually insecure not from hunger but separation from their mother’s womb. In the case of colicky babies, breast feeding on demand may prove to be physically harmful and emotionally distressing for the new mother who needs her own rest.

Lactation experts advise that mothers should ensure that their babies feed long enough to acquire the hind milk that is rich in fat content and stays longer in their stomach. Thus, if your babies wake up for nursing in the night, one must ensure that they have woken to feed long enough to reach the hind milk. Breast feeding on demand is definitely recommended but one needs to keep the above guidelines in their mind.

Mothers often complain that the 8 week old baby feeding schedule is not adequate as the baby is hungry more often, in some other case the mothers are complaining they do not have a fixed 8 week old baby feeding schedule as the baby does not follow a fixed routine.

Although one cannot explain the reason for this kind of behavior, but one can definitely reinforce certain characteristics in the baby, that are useful for the normal growth and development of the baby. It is important to work around creating the 8 week old baby feeding schedule that meets the nutritional needs and requirements of the growing baby. It is important to inculcate a fixed schedule in the baby’s daily routine.

This is possible by doing the same things at the same time everyday. The baby must be given a bath or taken out for a walk at the same time everyday, so that he falls into routine and knows when it is time to take feedings. This makes the Herculean task of 8 week old baby feeding schedule easy and manageable. One must also make sure that the baby completes his bottle or feeding before falling asleep.

It is a close observation of these little cues that make it easier to manage the 8 week old baby feeding schedule. While nursing the bay with the breast it is essential to make sure that the baby gets the more nutritious hind milk from the same breast. If the baby is crying excessively and cannot be consoled even with extra feedings then one must consult the doctor for advice.

By the time the baby reaches the 7 months milestone, he would be eating solids according to the 7 months baby feeding schedule. Iron fortified cereal, oatmeal and barley is mixed with breast milk and formula forms his staple diet by now.

One must be very careful while planning the 7 months baby feeding schedule and make sure to include wheat and other forms of mixed cereals by the end of this stage. This rule is followed in order to avoid any allergic reactions in the baby. Whenever you introduce a new food item in the 7 months baby feeding schedule, one must make sure to wait for at least three days before adding any new food item in the diet.

The gap is given, in order to recognize any allergic reaction to the food item. If you find that your baby is having irritable bowl movements and rashes after eating any particular food, it is advisable to make a note of it, and inform your pediatrician in your next visit. First time moms often wait for the 7 month baby feeding schedule time, so they can introduce their baby to a whole world of new tastes and textures.

One can choose from fruits, vegetables, meat and cereal. The raw vegetables must be strained and pureed before giving it to the baby. Overripe bananas must ideally be included in the seven months baby feeding schedule, as they are useful for digestion. It is important to introduce many fresh fruits and vegetables in the 7 months baby feeding schedule as you lay the foundation for good eating habits in the child.

The 2 month old baby feeding schedule is to be decided based on the nutritional needs of the baby. A two month old baby tends to be more awake due to its sensory enhancement. Thereby bright lights sounds and smells tend to keep the baby awake or also scare him or her. Therefore, it is not unusual for babies to cry seeking comfort in this strange world.

Looking for signs of hunger in the child is advice so also 2 month old baby feeding schedule is to be developed. Breast milk or formula is recommended for the ideal nutrition which may be supplemented with vitamin A and D drops if recommended by the doctor. Use of solid food is not advised in the 2 month old baby feeding schedule, as the child’s digestive system is not fully developed yet.

Night time feedings are not unusual; however, they are less frequent as the baby has enough strength to feed long enough to reach the hind milk. Other sources of comfort like warm baths, swaddling or soothing are to be tried at this stage only if the baby shows no signs of hunger. A 2 month old baby feeding schedule for the month baby usually varies between two to three hours as the metabolic rate is still fast at this stage.

It is recommended to initiate bottles at this stage by using breast milk in bottles to help ensure easy weaning from the breast at a later stage. The right planning of 2 month of baby feeding schedule can ensure emotional security for your baby and some rest for the mother as she can now let the dad wake up for the feedings from the bottles.

Weaning toddler from bottle is a very common, however weaning off bottle in toddlers can be a tough task. Most children can drink from a cup with assistance by the time they can hold their head steady while sitting – about six months. By nine months, many can handle a trainer cup (a cup with a lid containing a spout) on their own, and start using a small, regular cup around twelve to fifteen months. if your baby has not become attached to her bottle as a comfort object, it shouldn’t be hard to wean to a cup.

While there is no benefit to weaning early, waiting too long just tends to make the process of weaning off bottle more difficult. A good plan is to start when your baby is six to nine months and gradually increase the frequency of drinking from a cup a your child gets better and better at it. At some point, you and your child can agree that the bottles aren’t really getting used much, and its time to give them to a baby who needs them.

Its not uncommon, though, for toddlers to get locked into battles with their parents over the bottle feeding. The child wants to keep it, the parents want her to give it up. the parents plead or try to make deals, the toddlers holds out. The parents take the bottles, the toddler has a tantrum and refuses the cup. Eventually, the parents given in. Everyone feels angry.

if you find yourself in this situation, there are a couple of ways you can implement. one is simply to make the bottles disappear. you are sure to face a tantrum, or a string of tantrums spread out over a few days, but in the end your toddler will accept fluids from a cup and stop yearning for the bottle.

A less drastic approach is to insist that the bottle is for meals only, not for carrying around during the day or sleeping with at night. once that’s been established, you can gradually replace the bottle with a cup, one meal at a time. Another technique is to water down the milk in the bottle, adding a little more water each week until it is all water, while still serving milk in a cup. usually before getting to this point, Toddlers decide that the stuff from the cup (undiluted milk) tastes better. Weaning off bottle for the toddler becomes more easy.

You know it is time to plan a 10 month baby feeding schedule when your baby starts showing signs of readiness for finger foods. He has a better pincer grasp and puts everything in the mouth. By now the baby must have mastered the art of making chewing movements of the mouth every time you eat in front of him. This is the best time to introduce solids in a wide variety of choices. Home cooked baby food is nutritious and has all the essential ingredients for the 10 month baby feeding schedule.

Although the baby is still on breast milk or formula, it is essential to include other dairy products like cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt and iron fortified cereals in the daily 10 month baby feeding schedule. One can also introduce mixed cereals made from rice, barley, oats and wheat. Mashed fruits and vegetables can also be included at regular intervals. This includes bananas, pears, avocados, sweet potatoes and much more. Babies love to eat finger foods like pasta, noodles, crackers that are useful for teething babies and cereals in various shapes and sizes. The baby must have developed a taste for proteins like eggs, minced meat, chicken, fish, and even tofu and beans.

A regular 10 month baby feeding schedule includes, around one third cup of dairy products, half a cup of cereal, 1/2 cup fruits and vegetables, ¼ cup proteins and 4 oz of fruit juices like apple juice. But when introducing new food items in the 10 month baby feeding schedule, it is important to give a gap of three days in order to make sure that the baby is not developing an allergy to the solid food item.

The new born baby feeding schedule depends on various factors like his weight, age and the type of milk such as formula or breast milk that you are feeding the baby. In case of formula, there are some tips that aid in figuring out the new born baby feeding schedule. The best way, is to observe the baby’s behavior in order to ascertain the number of feedings required by the baby. Baby’s appetite follows a normal routine and needs feeding when they are hungry and stop demanding for more feedings when they are full.

Sometimes, the new born baby feeding schedule may vary from day to day as the baby is reaching new growth milestones. There is no fixed new born baby feeding schedule as the baby may also feel hungrier when he is reaching new growth milestones that start from 14 days after birth. The new born baby feeding times may also vary, if he is not keeping well. Therefore, the feeding schedules must be observed closely in order to ascertain the baby’s proper growth and development.

Parents often make the mistake of giving the baby a feeding bottle even at the sign of a whimper. But pediatricians advise that one must first try to find out other possibilities like, a soiled diaper or is the baby feeling too cold or hot. The baby could also cry when he needs to be held close to you or at times when he hasn’t been burped. Sometimes even after feeding the baby, he may ask for more, so it is difficult to ascertain a rigid new born baby feeding schedule.

[Feeding Babies] isn’t easy to understand. New parents are often worried about the feeding habits of the babies. They are not so sure about what to feed and when to feed. So today we will provide you with the complete eating schedule of the baby’s nutrition in a nutshell.

Feeding until the baby turns 6 months old

Breastfeeding or the formula offers all the nutrition which a baby needs until the first 6 months of her life. Breastfeeding will be the best option. It’s the breast milk which provides all the necessary nutrients to the baby until she is six months old. So make all the efforts to try to breastfeed your baby if in case you are facing any problems then contact your health advisor for more information and support. However, in some cases where the mothers are unable to feed the baby, issues like mastitis, then in that case feeding the baby with formula from the bottle will be the right choice. Do not give the baby a cow’s milk, goat’s milk or soy milk as they are not suitable for babies under 12 months old. These products do not have the necessary nutrients which your baby needs to grow such as iron.

Getting back to work should not be the reason to stop breastfeeding. There are lots of ways to provide your milk to the baby even when you are not around. You can express the milk out and refrigerate it or freeze it. If nothing comes as the barrier and you still continue to breastfeed the baby then slowly introduce your baby to a bottle or a cup.

Introducing Solids

When your baby is around 6 months old then you can start introducing solids to her. It’s wise to start one food at a time so that you can identify if your baby has any food allergy or intolerance. Start with a little bit of milky cereal, you can add breast milk or formula to the cereal and feed the baby.

Let’s take a tour of the food guide which can be introduced according to the months.

Six months: At this age your baby is all set to try different tastes and flavors. Introduce baby cereals mixed with breast milk or formula to start with. You can also buy some baby food from the stores but make sure that they follow all the federal standards. You can also cook food at home like pureed fruits such as apples, pears or vegetables like potato, pumpkin or carrot.

Seven months: You can try introducing some lumpier food and broaden the variety offered.

Eight months: This is the right time to introduce a bit more of coarsely mashed food, like minced meat, chicken and rice. You can also introduce soft fruits, soft-cooked veggies and toast, and not to forget grated cheese (pasteurized) and yoghurt.

12 months: At this age, your baby is ready to eat a little of what the rest of the family is eating. But make sure that you cut the pieces into small and then give it to the baby to avoid choking.

The above listed tips are just a guide for you to set a time frame. This does not mean that you force your baby to eat the food. Every baby is different from the other and has her own acceptance levels. If a food gets knocked down try it again next week. Baby’s can be offered new food any time before you actually want to try it. Avoid fussing around or worrying about your baby not eating solid food. There is no point in forcing the baby to eat anything. Be patient and offer the baby with an interval of every week so that she gets used to it.

Food Schedule after 6 months

Once the baby is 6 months old and got used to solid food then you can prepare a schedule chart for your reference and keep it. Your schedule will look somewhat like this

Early morning – Breastfeed or bottle

Mid morning – Breakfast and breastfeed or bottle

Early afternoon – Lunch and breastfeed or bottle

Early evening – Dinner and breastfeed or bottle

Late evening – Breastfeed or bottle (if needed)

You can identify that there are 4-5 milk feeds per day. But as your baby grows the solid food intake will increase and the baby herself will reduce the milk intake.

There are babies who are too fussy to eat any food. As a parent it’s your responsibility to provide good and nutritious food to the baby. If your baby does not like any type of food then try to provide a variety to her. You provide the food and let your baby decide how much to eat, do not fight over the food with the babies as this might create problems at the later stage.

Foods to avoid

Salt, sugar or caffeine: Babies stomach is too tender to handle any foods which are high in salt or sugar, or foods with caffeine which are found in cola drinks and chocolates.

Soft drinks and Juices: It’s better for babies to get their nutrition straight from fruit. If baby is thirsty, plain tap water is best. Water is rich with fluorides which helps in build the enamel on her developing teeth.

Dairy Products: Honey and unpasteurized dairy products may contain harmful bacteria which are unsuitable for the babies under 1 year old.

Cow’s milk, goat’s milk and soy milk are not suitable for children under 12 months. Instead babies can get the nutrition from breastmilk or formula.

Biscuits and sweets: If you can keep your child away from the temptations of biscuits and lollies then you might win the mealtime battle. Try to avoid this at least until the baby is 2 years old.
